Selecting Granite for Your Home

Nothing approaches the uniqueness, durability and serviceability of granite countertops in kitchens bathrooms and other locations within the home and our advance processes make this beautiful building material an affordable alternative to that of other less attractive and less durable traditional countertop materials.

Our granite is sourced out of quarries from around the world with each quarry producing a unique stone composition, pattern and color. From these quarries, large blocks of granite are cut out of the earth using diamond studded cutting systems. The giant 2 ton blocks are then sliced into 3cm slabs, polished and sealed before being shipped to Pi Granite.

At Pi Granite you can come in and choose your own granite slabs from our extensive range of patterns and colors. Because every slab is unique, it can be a daunting task; Pi Granite’s staff can guide and assist you in making the perfect selection for your home. Once you have selected your material, Pi Granite will do the rest!

The most effective way of achieving a perfect fit is to prepare templates of the areas to be covered by granite. One way Pi Granite does this is by using thin wooden strips that are glued together to produce a replica of the area to be covered. The template process takes into consideration that walls are not always 100% square and ensures that the final result integrates beautifully into your home.

In the shop, the templates are placed on the selected slab and adjusted to maximize the beauty of the stone. Once marked-out, the slab is cut out into pieces using a precision water cooled saw.

After being cut out, the granite pieces are then edged and polished by hand. Hand edging and polishing achieves a high quality result that is not possible by routing. This hand finishing is one of the things that set Pi Granite apart from our competition.

After the granite is cut, edged and polished, the pieces are transported for installation in your home. There, our skilled craftsmen install the countertops and other components, making sure that all the pieces fit perfectly. Granite is naturally stain resistant; however, Pi Granite’s stones are specially treated with a sealer that provides an extra layer of protection. After our craftsmen have finished with your countertops, the only maintenance required is to reapply the sealer at intervals of approximately 10 years.
